hydroponics for orchids

I am wondering.... if I set up an aquarium with water place my orchids on the grate above the aquarium, would this work as a watering system?
I already use Leca as my "soil".

Sounds like a good idea - if you have enough light. Your orchids will love the humidity from the aquarium . . . but they will also need a lot of light to grow. You might think about installing an LED Grow Light above the aquarium. Then you'll have an excellent growing area.
